Laurus

It belongs to the laurel family, whose Latin name is “Laurus Nobilis”. It is a perennial plant that does not shed its leaves for four seasons. Its homeland is Mediterranean countries. Laurel leaf, which can grow in abundant natural conditions in all European, Mediterranean and Aegean regions, is one of the rare riches of our country. Turkey meets 80 percent of the world’s need for bay leaves.
The smell and taste of the bay leaf are as impressive as its appearance. The leaves of this tree, which resemble the tip of a spear, are a flavor enhancer especially preferred in kitchens. In Europe, dried bay leaves are even cooked with the ingredients when making tomato paste.
