Melissa, whose Latin name is ‘Melissa Officinalis’, belongs to the mint family. The name lemon balm comes from the Greek word ‘bee’. Its homeland is South Africa and the Mediterranean basin. It grows wild in almost every region in our country. It is known for its lush greenery in four seasons. It is a lemon-scented, perennial herbaceous plant.
Towards the end of the summer months, tiny white flowers bloom. It has a beautiful scent that gives a feeling of calmness, lightness and relaxation. It is also popularly known as mint balsam, blue balsam, honey plant, sweet balsam, lemon balm, acem grass and son grass.
